John Andrew Boehner, the 61st Speaker of the United States House of Representatives, delivered an emotional farewell address on the floor of the House today as he prepares to retire at the end of October after a 24 year career as a member of Congress.
The son of an Ohio barkeeper previously served as the House Minority Leader from 2007-2011, and Majority Leader from 2006-2007.
“I leave the way I started, just a regular guy humbled by the chance to do a big job,” Boehner said as he addressed the House chamber.
