Testing the New FujiFilm X-T1

I just bought a new toy to play with, the FujiFilm X-T1.

I am mainly interested in this camera so I can put together a more low-profile kit to shoot with while working on projects where it is best to blend in a bit and let people forget you are there with a camera. Even the smallish Nikon D700’s, which I use on a regular basis, can be a bit distracting. I wanted something smaller and quieter, but did not want to compromise on the ability to shoot in low light.

I bought the X-T1 with a 35mm 1.4 (135 equivalent: 53mm) and today I took it out for the first test run while shooting an assignment for Bloomberg News on Capitol Hill.

So far, I am really impressed.

I don’t have time right now to go into the details, but I wanted to post a few frames from today. All of these images were shot at ISO 3200.

If anyone has any questions about the camera or lens, feel free to ask and I will answer when I get a chance.

Otherwise stay tuned for more samples and updates.

  1. Read your short review on the new Fuji X-t1 and impressed. (I picked up a used Fuji X 10 and quite amazed.) I’ve been shopping for a 4/3 camera, and this review and your pix was helpful.

  2. Pete, I’ve been looking for photojournalists reactions to the fuji x series. You are one of the first I’ve seen. Keep posting your thoughts, I appreciate it.
