Protesters showed their opposition against President Obama’s nuclear deal with Iran during a rally sponsored by the activist group Tea Party Patriots in Washington, District of Columbia, U.S., on Wednesday, Sept. 9, 2015. Republicans have condemned the agreement, saying it will not prevent Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons.
Republican presidential candidates Donald Trump and Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) were on hand to voice their opposition to the deal with Cruz saying that the Obama administration would become “the leading financier of radical Islamic terrorism” if the deal were to go through and Trump saying “Never ever, ever in my life have I seen any transaction so incompetently negotiated as our deal with Iran. And I mean never.”
The agreement, which aims to stop Iran from acquiring a nuclear weapon and puts limits on many of Iran’s nuclear programs, was reached after years of negotiations between the United States, Russia, China, U.K., France, Germany and Iran.
