On January 20, 2017, President Donald Trump delivered a fiercely populist and often dark address, promising to transfer power in Washington from political elites to the people and vowing to put “America first.”
Part of a team of 5 photographers, I was assigned by Bloomberg News to cover the National Mall during the inauguration. This was my third inauguration. The other two were President Barack Obama’s 2009 and 2013.
It was cold and drizzly from time to time, but certainly no at cold as Obama’s 2009 inauguration.
After the inauguration, had to do some extra filing and then get ready to cover the Armed Services Ball where President Trump and Vice President Pence made an appearance.

Hi Peter! Love your work — came across a photo of yours in the New York Times and that’s how I got here.
Curious what your setup is in terms of camera body/lens you used for these shots? Your photos are beautifully crisp.
Cheers,
Raj
Thank you Peter, yet once again…
